Cosplay Contest and Performance Showcase

Are you a costumer who loves making their own outfits? Perhaps you are a performer who loves to dress up as your favorite pop culture character and act your heart out? Whatever your preferences, we’re accepting both craftsman AND performance-based competitors this year!

Please Note: Cosplay contest contestants must have a Saturday badge for UwU Con in order to be accepted. Badges will not be provided for competitors.

FAQ

A cosplay contest is an event where individuals (or groups) dress up as their favorite pop culture character(s) and pose or perform on stage for event attendees to watch. The cosplayers in our cosplay contest are required to make their own costumes.

A Performance Showcase is a contest where cosplayers put their acting, dancing and performing skills to the test! Cosplayers in our showcase are not required to make their own costumes.

The competition is divided to allow performance-based and craftsman cosplayers. Please ensure you are applying to the correct form above. 

  • Craftsman Applicants: Costume must be 65% handmade or more. Applicant cannot use costume that was made by someone else and model it; costume MUST be made by the applicant.
    • Solo Craftsman are given up to 1 minute to pose and/or perform a simple act on stage.
    • Group Craftsman are given up to 2 minutes to pose and/or perform a simple act on stage.
  • Performance Applicants: Performance cosplayers do not need to make their costumes. Performances must be family friendly (PG). Performance props and sets must meet convention prop guidelines.
    • Solo Performers will have up to 90 seconds on stage to perform.
    • Group Performers will have up to 3 minutes on stage to perform.

Yes, however, please know that you will only have 15-30 seconds to set up and tear down your stage set. UwU Con will not have enough stage hands to help you so you may need to bring help.

Please see the CosTalk LIVE booth before your performance to inform us of any assistance you may need getting onto the stage.

NOTE: If you or a member in your group cannot climb steps, please inform us of that in your application so we can make arrangements to accommodate you.

If you are a Craftsman Applicant you will be required to attend pre-judging. Craftsman Applicants will receive a judging time when their application acceptance email is sent out. You MUST be in costume for pre-judging.

Performance Applicants are not required to attend pre-judging.

Yes. Audio must be submitted during application. Your audio will be screened by the cosplay coordinators. Audio MUST be PG. Any audio considered vulgar or inappropriate will be denied. If you do not submit new audio then we will use our own music selection.
